A Study on the Physicochemical Properties, Heavy Metals, Toxins and Microbiological Analysis of Moringa oleifera Gum Powder

Abstract:

Nature has gifted our country with an abundant amount of herbage. Moringa oleifera a nutrient dense variety known as the “miracle tree” due to its benefits to humans and animals. Gum exudates obtained from the stem of the tree dense in nutrition and has many effective uses. In this present study, Moringa oleifera Gum was extracted and used as a food formulant. Various physico chemical properties like bulk density, tapped density, carr's index, hausner ratio, angle of repose, water holding capacity, oil holding capacity, total Ash and acid ash insoluble were determined in the gum. The heavy metals, toxins, and microbes were analysed to ensure the safeness of Moringa oleifera gum powder. The development of physico chemical properties and micribiological analysis of gum powder revealed its suitability for use in new product development.
